Building Healthy MarriagesBuilding Healthy Marriages

Building Healthy Marriages is a partnership between the Weld County Department of Human Services, United Way of Weld County, and the Community Mediation Project. These partners have come together to provide you the tools you need to be successful in your relationship.

The Building Healthy Marriages program provides both couples and individuals with relationship education classes and other extended services. Our program is free to the public. We are excited to begin our 3rd year of our 5 year grant.

How Building Healthy Marriages Works

  • Trained instructors provide Relationship Seminars using several curriculums including PREP®, LoveU2, and Marriage Garden curriculums
  • The seminars provide a safe environment in which to learn how to recognize danger signs in your relationship and how to communicate safely and effectively
  • Relationship seminars are a minimum of eight hours
  • This interactive process provides you with tools to strengthen your relationships

Building Healthy Marriages helps couples:

  • Share Vision with Teamwork
  • Understand Marriage
  • Manage conflict (communication skills and managing emotions)
  • Promote positive connections with their partner
  • Strengthen relationships beyond the couple
  • Enhance their ability to manage challenging external circumstances

There are now three steps to this program:

  1. Relationship Seminars, Anyone can attend the Relationship Seminars regardless of age, marital status, income or residency.
  2. Next Step Coaching is for Weld County residents only, and couples must fit the  following qualifying factors: income eligible, 18 years of age or older, be in a relationship, be a legal resident or citizen of the U.S. and be a resident of Weld County, have no current Domestic Violence or alcohol/substance abuse.
